Before the Sundering, Aethermoor was a land of gilded spires and ancient wisdom. Five great kingdoms rose from the ashes of the First Age, each carving their dominion from the wild chaos that consumed the old world. They built roads, raised cities, and buried their dead in dungeons deep beneath the stone — places now forgotten by all but the desperate and the bold.

— A weathered merchant, third pint in:

"I seen a man come out of the old Valdris dungeon carrying nothing but a key and a haunted look. Bought a round for the whole tavern though, so I didn't press him."

— A young sellsword:

"The Final Boss ain't just a monster. It's a memory. The dungeon makes it from whatever you fear most. That's why nobody's ever described the same one twice."

— An old woman nursing a bowl of stew:

"There's a dungeon beneath this very town. The founders built the inn on top of the entrance on purpose. Said the smell of ale keeps the things inside from coming up."
